I bought an RV with an FMCA plate attached. What do I do?

Congrats on your new-to-you RV purchase! The plate attached to your RV is unique to the former owner. FMCA memberships do not transfer from person to person with sale of the RV. You cannot reuse the plate or join FMCA using that number.

However, we invite you to join as a new member! Upon joining, you will be issued your own unique member ID number (i.e. F123456) and sent your own custom plate.

I have a relative who is an FMCA member. Can I reuse their F number?

This is what we call a generational membership. If you have a relative who is a present or former FMCA member, you can link to that person's membership number. A letter is added to your member ID when you join to represent your own unique membership. For example:

  • #F123456S (S for son)
  • #F123456D (D for daughter)
  • #F123456G (G for grandchild)
  • #F123456P (P for parent)

Many members take pride in multiple generations being part of FMCA, and this is a way to honor that legacy. If you are interested in a generational plate, please call the Membership Team at (800) 543-3622.

Please note that each member is responsible for paying his/her own dues, and memberships will be billed separately.

Benefits & RV Discounts

I'm Canadian. Can I join FMCA? Are benefits different for Canadian members?

Yes, FMCA is international. You do NOT have to live in the U.S. to join FMCA. While most of the benefits and discounts apply to all members, there are some limitations:

Tire Savings Program — Due to the currency exchange, the tire manufacturers (Michelin or Continental) do not honor the discount programs at Canadian tire dealers. However, if Canadians travel to the U.S., they are more than welcome to take advantage of the benefit then.

RV Windshield Replacement — This benefit is available in the U.S. only.

RV Internet Programs — Canadian members are welcome to purchase the plans for use in the U.S. Please note the plan carriers would apply additional charges for use in Canada. A U.S. shipping address must be provided to receive the device and special arrangements may need to be made if the billing address differs from the shipping address.

Is FMCA Roadside Rescue® (roadside assistance) included with membership?

No, FMCA Roadside Rescue® is not automatically included with membership. Members can purchase the roadside assistance plan at an exclusive group rate offered to FMCA members only. The plan must be purchased from the provider, SafeRide RV Motor Club.

I need to make a claim on FMCA Roadside Rescue® (roadside assistance). What do I do?

For dispatch, please call the number located on your ID card or found in your policy documents. And check out our FAQs about FMCA Roadside Rescue®.

Is Medical & Travel Assist included with membership?

Are my additional vehicles, spouse, and dependents eligible for coverage with Roadside Rescue?

Yes, your tow car and additional vehicles are covered. Owner, spouse or spousal equivalent, and any children under the age of 25 years old living at home also have their vehicles covered. Only roadside assistance benefits apply to the household.

Do I have to be a certain number of miles away from my home to utilize the Roadside Rescue program?

No, there is no distance from home to use the program.

Is there a limit on the amount of times I can utilize the Roadside Rescue service?

No, there is no written number of times you may use the program. Use is unlimited, but if it becomes apparent you are not maintaining your vehicles you could be subject to a rate increase.

How do I know if I have a current plan with SafeRide?

For general inquiries you can call SafeRide directly at (877) 581-8581. You will need to provide your name, address, and FMCA Membership Number.

Am I covered for towing?

Towing is covered to the nearest qualified repair center. If a non-accident related tow is necessary, the customer’s disabled vehicle will be taken to the nearest qualified repair facility.

What does “nearest qualified repair shop” mean?

Qualified equates to placing the unit at a repair center that can handle the specific type of repair. In many cases the member has already “pre-qualified” with the location they request it be towed to. If not, you will be towed to the nearest location within the SafeRide RV Motor Club network of authorized repair shops.

Is there an age limit to tow my RV or vehicle? I own other vehicles besides my RV, is my Pick-up, Harley and if necessary a rental car covered?

With the exception of “Classic” cars – show cars from the 70’s or earlier – there is no age limit to have your RV or vehicle towed, as long as the vehicle is able to be moved. Our program covers your RV and most other street legal vehicle(s) you own, rent, or borrow. Please contact SafeRide RV Club if you have additional questions regarding coverage for additional vehicles.

I’m an Associate Member of FMCA, can I still enroll in Roadside Rescue®?

Yes! Associate Members are eligible for Roadside Rescue® as well.

Is the vehicle pulling my 5th-Wheel or Travel Trailer covered under Roadside Rescue?

Yes, both vehicles are covered. If the truck pulling your 5th-Wheel breaks down, for example, both the truck and 5th-Wheel will be moved to the nearest qualified repair center (the trailer may be towed to the nearest campground). If a service center is not available, depending on the time of night, SafeRide RV will make every effort to move you to a safe location.

Is there an instance where my towing vehicle would not be covered under the same Roadside Rescue policy as my 5th-Wheel or Travel Trailer?

If the pulling vehicle is a Class 6, 7, or 8 Truck then it is NOT covered under the RV’s Roadside Rescue® policy and therefore would require a 2nd Roadside Rescue® policy to be covered. Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks are determined as follows:

Class 6:19,501 to 26,000 pounds
Class 7:26,001 to 33,000 pounds
Class 8:33,001 or more pounds
When does my roadside expire?

Please call FMCA at 800-543-3622 to check the status of your Roadside membership. You may also call them directly at 877-581-8581.

How do I access the tire discount benefit?

The Tire Discounts benefit can be found at the following link: https://www.frva.com/rv-tires-discounts

How do I contact roadside rescue?

You can contact the roadside administrative staff during central time hours at 877-581-8581. For administrative and general inquiries please call (877) 581-8581. For dispatch, please call the number located on your ID card or found in your policy documents, then choose the appropriate prompt:
